This blog deals with providing an
analysis as well as a variety of opinions regarding the function of the Samajwadi Party as a political party .
Part
One
This part of the project will deal
with providing an overview of right wing and left wing parties with a detailed
analysis regarding what left wing and right wing parties stand for with a
glimpse at their ideology .
There
are three forms of political parties in India namely the right wing parties ,
the left wing parties and the central parties these parties work to satisfy the
needs of the people they represent .
It
was in honor of this tradition that the term right wing and left wing parties
came into existence. The nature of a party can be foreseen after knowing if it
is a left wing or a right wing party , as right wing parties are conservative
and ideologically inclined (laying a special interest in political ideas that existed in the
past ) whereas left wing parties believe
in an alternative vision which differs from the ideas of right wing parties ,
these parties are also communist in nature .
Left wing parties
The
left wing parties as the name suggests believe in an alternate vision differing
from that of the right wing parties , left wing parties are mostly communist in
nature and support systems such as a heavier government for regulation &
control, a higher ratio of social services as well as mixed economies. These
parties also promote the idea of a larger public sector , taxing people and
companies more to provide welfare support to the people , health care,
education thus hoping to create a basic standard of living similar to a safety net.
An
example of a left wing party would be the samajwadi party, the Samajwadi Party came
into existences on 4th October 1992 . Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav was elected party's
first President .
The
Samajwadi Party is strongly against communal forces. It is in favour of 'Indo
Pak Bangladesh Mahasangh' and the Party also believes in democratic socialism
and opposes uncontrolled entry Of Multinational companies to India . Besides
that the Party believes that Agriculture and
Small scale Industries are the
backbone of Indian Economy and hence every assistance should be given to these
sectors.
This part of the project will deal
with providing a SWOT analysis of a right wing and a left wing party where its
strengths, weaknesses , opportunities
and threats will be looked at in great detail .This analysis will be done via
looking at the history of the party , as well as conducting a survey among a
group of 50 individuals who will express their views regarding the party and
also with an interview with the elected representative of the party .
The reason to why this party was
chosen is because as a political party it finds itself in the left wing of
political placement and allows a great deal of contrast to be seen in its
functions and ideologies with that of MNS .This contributed to the creation of
a better picture with reference to the political scenario that both these
parties provide .
Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav was
elected party's first President . The Party Vice President is Shri Janeshwar
Mishra Mulayam Singh Yadav has been in politics since 1967. He has been the
Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh - 1993-95, and Union Defence Minister 1996-1998.
In the 13th Lok Sabha, it was the 5th largest party with 27 members.
Samajwadi Party is against
communal forces. Samajwadi Party is in favour of 'Indo Pak Bangladesh
Mahasangh'. Party believes in democratic socialism and opposes uncontrolled
entry Of Multinational companies to India, Party believes that Agriculture,
Small scale Industry is the backbone of Indian Economy and hence every
assistance should be given to these sectors.
In the case of this political
party we were able to obtain a bit of insight by a quick discussion with one of
the collogues of Abu Asim Azmi near Matralay at barrack number 5 , Mumbai .This
provided us with a perspective of the party via its own members .The Samajwadi
party as a party finds itself in the left wing of political placement and as
such believes in an alternate vision than most right wing parties such as MNS .
Although it pays a special interest
in small scale industries and agriculture , (the instance where the Samajwadi
party was against the introduction of multinational companies in India without
any proper control ) it does not neglect the empowerment of other sections of
society .
After an interview with 50
individuals it was seen that the principles of the party are well imbibed among
individuals who hold no grudges against the Samajwadi party .They see it as a
“friendly” party as it encourages its interactions with the youth via holding
various activities as seen in Kranti Rath Yatra &
Cycle Rallys that are held by the Smajwadi party .
Strengths –
As a political party one of the
major strength of the Samajwadi party lies in the fact that it has successfully
created a great deal of goodwill among its patrons and thus is mostly looked at
as a positive political force .
The Samajwadi party also believes
in direct interactions with the youth and masses contributing to its popularity
and tag as a “people friendly ” party .
Weaknesses –
One of the major weaknesses of
the Samajwadi party lies in the fact that it was in opposition to the entry of
multinational companies in India which made the party look a bit backward in
its approaches to economic and commercial activity .
Opportunities –
One of the major opportunities that
came with the Samajwadi parties opposition to the decision of being on
different terms with the decision of the entry of multinational companies in
the Indian market allowed individuals to realize that as a party the Samajwadi
party was able to foresee the possibility of the destruction of small scale
industries .This allowed the parties to appreciate the actions of the political
party .
Threats –
The Samajwadi party faces a
great threat from other left wing parties such as the CPI and the CPM due to their
growing popularity among the masses .
